Jesus Teaches at the Festival
14. ○이미 명절의 중간이 되어 예수께서 성전에 올라가사 가르치시니
Not until halfway through the festival did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach.
*halfway 절반의, 중간의 *ESV About the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and began teaching.
15. 유대인들이 놀랍게 여겨 이르되 이 사람은 배우지 아니하였거늘 어떻게 글을 아느냐 하니
The Jews there were amazed and asked, “How did this man get such learning without having been taught?”
*amazed 놀라다, 경탄하다 (at) amaze 놀라게하다 amazing 놀라운
16. 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 내 교훈은 내 것이 아니요 나를 보내신 이의 것이니라
Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.
17. 사람이 하나님의 뜻을 행하려 하면 이 교훈이 하나님께로부터 왔는지 내가 스스로 말함인지 알리라
Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.
18. 스스로 말하는 자는 자기 영광만 구하되 보내신 이의 영광을 구하는 자는 참되니 그 속에 불의가 없느니라
Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.
*false 거짓의, 허위의 [fɔːls] (명) falsehood 거짓, 허위 <-> truth
19. 모세가 너희에게 율법을 주지 아니하였느냐 너희 중에 율법을 지키는 자가 없도다 너희가 어찌하여 나를 죽이려 하느냐
Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?”
20. 무리가 대답하되 당신은 귀신이 들렸도다 누가 당신을 죽이려 하나이까
“You are demon-possessed,” the crowd answered. “Who is trying to kill you?”
*demon-possessed 귀신들리다 possessed 홀린, 움직여진, 침착한
21. 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 내가 한 가지 일을 행하매 너희가 다 이로 말미암아 이상히 여기는도다
Jesus said to them, “I did one miracle, and you are all amazed.
*ESV Jesus answered them, “I did one work, and you all marvel at it.

22. 모세가 너희에게 할례를 행했으니 (그러나 할례는 모세에게서 난 것이 아니요 조상들에게서 난 것이라) 그러므로 너희가 안식일에도 사람에게 할례를 행하느니라
Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath.
*circumcision 할례 *circumcise 할례를 베풀다 *Sabbath 안식일 [sǽbəθ] *patriarch [péitriὰːrk] 족장, 이스라엘인의 조상 Abraham, Isaac, Jacob의 세 사람.
23. 모세의 율법을 범하지 아니하려고 사람이 안식일에도 할례를 받는 일이 있거든 내가 안식일에 사람의 전신을 건전하게 한 것으로 너희가 내게 노여워하느냐
Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man’s whole body on the Sabbath?
24. 외모로 판단하지 말고 공의롭게 판단하라 하시니라
Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”
*mere 단순한, 단지 *appearance 외모 [əpíərəns]
25. ○예루살렘 사람 중에서 어떤 사람이 말하되 이는 그들이 죽이고자 하는 그 사람이 아니냐
At that point some of the people of Jerusalem began to ask, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?
26. 보라 드러나게 말하되 그들이 아무 말도 아니하는도다 당국자들은 이 사람을 참으로 그리스도인 줄 알았는가
Here he is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying a word to him. Have the authorities really concluded that he is the Messiah?
*Messiah 메시아, 구세주, 그리스도 [məsáiə]
헤브라이어 동사 마샤하(기름을 붓는다)의 명사형 마사햐(Māšīªh, 기름이 부어진 자)에 유래하는 말로 구세주라고 하며 그리스어로 그리스토스(그리스도)라고 번역되었다.
27. 그러나 우리는 이 사람이 어디서 왔는지 아노라 그리스도께서 오실 때에는 어디서 오시는지 아는 자가 없으리라 하는지라
But we know where this man is from; when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.”
28. 예수께서 성전에서 가르치시며 외쳐 이르시되 너희가 나를 알고 내가 어디서 온 것도 알거니와 내가 스스로 온 것이 아니니라 나를 보내신 이는 참되시니 너희는 그를 알지 못하나
Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, “Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him,
29. 나는 아노니 이는 내가 그에게서 났고 그가 나를 보내셨음이라 하시니
but I know him because I am from him and he sent me.”
30. 그들이 예수를 잡고자 하나 손을 대는 자가 없으니 이는 그의 때가 아직 이르지 아니하였음이러라
At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.
Jesus Teaches at the Festival
